If you don't have IELTS scores yet, start with the free 13-minute level test: it gives an estimated band for all four skills. Take a full mock test when you want an exact band in one skill, or to check your progress before the exam.
Both. Reading, Writing and Speaking have separate Academic and General Training tests. Listening is the same test for both, as in the real exam.
Reading and Listening bands come from your number of correct answers out of 40, like the real test, so they are a good guide. The real conversion varies slightly between test versions. Writing and Speaking bands come from AI marking against the official criteria, so treat them as an estimate and get feedback from a teacher when you can.
Take one at the start to find your level, then one every two to four weeks. In between, practise the question types and skills your results show are weakest.
A Reading test takes 60 minutes and a Listening test about 30 minutes. In the real exam, Writing takes 60 minutes for both tasks and Speaking takes 11 to 14 minutes.
Use your four scores to plan what to study next. The ClayLingua study plan takes your scores and exam date and shows what to do each day, with more time on your weakest skill.
