Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. Creating your study plan is completely free, and the plan is yours to keep. ClayLingua Unlimited is an optional paid subscription with lessons, drills and mock tests that help you follow the plan, but you don't need it to get or use your plan.
Do I need an account?
No. You can answer the questions and see your full plan without signing up. If you want to save your plan and come back to it later, you can create a free account from the results page.
How accurate is it?
Your projected band is an estimate, not a guarantee. It's based on published IELTS research into how quickly learners typically improve, adjusted for your current level, study hours, tutor support and motivation. Individual results vary, and IELTS scores themselves can vary slightly between sittings. You can see every source we use under “How we calculate your score” on this page.
What if I don't know my scores?
That's fine. Leave the score fields blank and choose your general English level instead, from Beginner to Advanced. We'll estimate your starting band from that and build your plan around it.
What if my exam is very soon?
You can make a plan for an exam as little as one week away. If there isn't enough time to reach your target at your current study hours, your results will tell you and show your options, such as adding study hours or, if your date is flexible, moving your exam.
