Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship (University of Toronto)
The University of Toronto's top award for international school leavers, recognising academic achievement, creativity and leadership. Each school can nominate one student a year, and you apply to U of T through OUAC at the same time.
Application round
For September 2027 entry, schools received the nomination form from 6 July 2026 and had to nominate by 9 October 2026 (new schools by noon Eastern). The U of T admission application was due 16 October 2026 and the Pearson application with documents by 6 November 2026. Last year decisions went out from late January, with all nominees told by April.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarship has no English score of its own, but admission to U of T does: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 in one sitting (TOEFL iBT is also accepted). Results must reach U of T by your deadline for supporting documents, so as a Thai-curriculum student plan to have 6.5 by early November of your final year.

- Tenable only for first-entry undergraduate programmes at U of T
Who can apply
- International student who will need a Canadian study permit
- In the final year of secondary school in 2026/27, or graduated no earlier than June 2026
- Starting at U of T in September 2027; students already in post-secondary study are not eligible
- Nominated by your school (one nominee per school per year)
- Applied to at least one U of T undergraduate programme by 16 October 2026

CHF 2,450 a month for a PhD or a one-year research stay in Switzerland. Thai applicants apply online by 24 November 2026; there is no IELTS requirement of its own.
