Adelaide Academic Excellence Scholarship (50%)
The top international award at the new Adelaide University (formed from the University of Adelaide and UniSA). It halves your tuition for the standard length of an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree. Places are limited and the bar is high: a high-distinction record of GPA 6.7 out of 7 or, for school leavers, ATAR 99 or the international equivalent. Offers are made on a rolling basis until the allocation runs out.
Application round
Applications opened on Monday 24 August 2026 through the Adelaide Academic Excellence Scholarship Application Form (SATAC applicants use the SATAC version). There is no published closing date: a selection panel assesses applications on merit and makes offers on a rolling basis until places are filled, so apply early.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarship has no IELTS score of its own; you must meet the entry requirements of your chosen programme. Adelaide's common requirement is IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, and health, teaching and some business programmes ask for more. Because awards are decided before you commence and applied to your offer, have the score in before the intake you're aiming for.

What it covers
- A 50% reduction in tuition fees for the standard full-time duration of your programme
- Applied straight to your Offer of Admission once awarded
- Living costs, flights and OSHC are not included
Who can apply
- International student (no country restriction)
- Applying for a bachelor's degree of at least 96 units (two years) or a master's of at least 72 units (1.5 years), after any credit is applied
- Undergraduate: minimum ATAR 99 or international equivalent; undergraduate and postgraduate: minimum GPA 6.7 on a 7.0 scale or comparable
- Not an Australia Awards recipient, and not a sponsored student with a fee waiver equal to or larger than the scholarship
- Excluded programmes include Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Midwifery, Psychology masters and the MBA
- Keep a programme-term GPA of at least 5.5 each study period to retain the award
