China Scholarship Council (CSC), via the Thai Ministry of Higher Education (MHESI)
Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC, Bilateral Programme)
The China Scholarship Council's bilateral scholarship for degree study at Chinese universities. Thai applicants on the Type A route are nominated through MHESI (agency number 7641); you also need a pre-admission letter from a Chinese university before you apply.
Application round
For 2026/27, MHESI took nominations until early February 2026 and CSC rounds generally close by March. Applications go online at campuschina.org (Type A, agency number 7641) plus a paper set with a nomination letter from your institution to MHESI.
Next round
The 2027/28 call hasn't been published. MHESI's recent calls have closed in early February (10 February 2025 for the 2025/26 round), so have your IELTS and a pre-admission letter ready by January 2027.
The IELTS requirement
CSC itself sets no English score. Chinese-taught master's and PhD programmes need HSK 4 instead. For a programme taught in English you upload whatever English proof the university asks for (IELTS or TOEFL) with the CSC application, so you need the result before the deadline. Chinese universities commonly ask around IELTS 6.0 to 6.5 for English-taught master's programmes; check the programme page.
