German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
DAAD EPOS: Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (Germany)
DAAD funds places on a fixed list of development-related postgraduate courses at German universities, mostly English-taught master's of 12 to 24 months. Thailand is on the DAC country list the programme uses, so Thai professionals with two years' work experience can apply.
Application round
There's no single EPOS deadline. The 2027/28 course list has 25 courses and each one takes applications on its own website with its own closing date; the course then nominates candidates and DAAD asks them to upload their documents to the DAAD portal.
The IELTS requirement
You submit your English certificate with the course application, so you need the score before the course's deadline. DAAD's minimum for English-taught courses is IELTS Band 6 (or TOEFL iBT 80, paper-based 550, computer-based 213); the institutional TOEFL isn't accepted. Some courses set a higher score, commonly 6.5, so check the course description. German-taught courses need B1 German when you apply and DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 before you start.
