École normale supérieure, Paris (ENS-PSL)
ENS Paris International Selection (École normale supérieure, PSL)
ENS Paris recruits a small group of international students each year through a competitive exam in Sciences and in Arts & Humanities. Admitted students join the ENS diploma and master's track with a monthly grant and campus accommodation for three years.
Application round
Applications for the 2027 session opened on 16 October 2026 at 14:00 Paris time and close on 15 December 2026 at 14:00 Paris time (20:00 in Thailand), on the OnePSL platform; incomplete and emailed files are rejected. Shortlists in late January 2027; exams in February (Arts & Humanities) and March (Sciences); results on 9 March and 26 March 2027.
The IELTS requirement
There is no English test. Selection is a dossier shortlist followed by written and oral exams and an interview, all held remotely. Sciences candidates choose French or English for the cover letter and orals. Arts & Humanities candidates are expected to be fluent in French: the written exam and most dossiers are in French (Economics, Linguistics and Cognitive Studies may use English), though you can answer in English at the oral. If you then take a master's taught in English, that programme's requirement (typically IELTS 6.5) applies.
