Fulbright Thai Graduate Scholarship (TGS)
An open competition for Thai graduates to study in the United States, run by Fulbright Thailand. Grants are large but usually partial, and up to four are given each year.
Application round
The 2027 round closed on 30 April 2026 at 23:59 Thailand time and is now at the interview stage.
Next round
The 2028 round hasn't been announced. Applications usually open in January and close at the end of April, with interviews in July.
The IELTS requirement
You submit your score with the application: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall for a master's or 7.5 for a PhD, with no per-skill minimum. TOEFL iBT (80 or 100) and Duolingo (120 or 140) are also accepted; IELTS One Skill Retake results are not. Shortlisted applicants are asked for an official TOEFL iBT report, so if you only have IELTS, check with Fulbright Thailand before you apply.

- Up to US$46,000 a year for a master's, or US$40,000 a year for a PhD, for up to two years
- Return economy airfare
- J-1 visa sponsorship

Who can apply
- Thai citizen with a bachelor’s degree from a Thai university
- Master's applicants: GPA of 3.00 or more; PhD applicants: master's GPA of 3.50 or more
- No age limit and no work experience required
- Any field except medicine, nursing and other clinical-practice fields
