University of Glasgow
University of Glasgow Global Leadership Scholarship
Glasgow's main merit award for international master's students: a £10,000 tuition fee discount for one-year, full-time, on-campus master's programmes starting in September 2027. Thailand is on the eligible country list, and with 350 awards and rolling decisions it's one of the more accessible UK university scholarships. A separate round covers the January 2027 intake for a handful of engineering and education MSc programmes.
Application round
The September 2027 round was not yet open when checked: Glasgow says it "will open shortly" and invites you to register your interest, with a closing date to be confirmed (usually late August). Decisions are rolling. For the January 2027 intake (six MSc programmes in engineering and education) applications close on 14 December 2026 at 11:45 UK time (18:45 in Thailand), and you must hold an offer by then.
Next round
Expect the September 2027 round to open in the coming months and close around late August 2027. Because awards are rolling, apply for your programme early and submit the scholarship form as soon as it opens.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarship sets no IELTS score; what matters is the offer for your master's. Glasgow's common postgraduate requirement is IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 (some programmes ask for 7.0), and a conditional offer with English outstanding can still be issued, so the test can follow your application. Decisions are made within six weeks of your offer or your scholarship application, whichever is later, so having the score early speeds things up.
