Imperial College London
Imperial College London President's PhD Scholarships
Imperial's flagship doctoral scholarship for applicants with a first-class record, in any department. You apply for a PhD place as normal, tick the President's PhD Scholarship option, and your department nominates you. You need a supervisor who has agreed to take you before you apply.
Application round
Apply through the online admissions system, no separate form. Deadlines are 23:59 UK time (06:59 the next morning in Thailand): round 1 closes on 2 November 2026 (decisions by 31 January 2027), round 2 closes on 11 January 2027 (decisions by 15 April) and round 3 on 1 March 2027 (decisions by 31 May). Applying early gives departments more time to nominate you.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarship has no English requirement of its own; Imperial's postgraduate requirement applies. Standard level is IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in every element, and higher level (some departments) is 7.0 with at least 6.5. Your course page says which applies. You don't need the result to apply, but it becomes a condition of your offer, and all scores must come from one sitting. Results must be from within two years of your start date.
