Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)
KAIST Scholarship for International Undergraduates
KAIST's standard package for students admitted through its International Student Admission. You tick 'KAIST scholarship' in the admission form and, if admitted, the award comes with the offer. Teaching is in English, so no Korean is required to start.
Application round
Regular Admission for 2027 (Fall Track only) opens on 10 November 2026 and closes on 14 January 2027 at 18:00 Korean time (16:00 in Thailand); recommendation letters are due by 21 January. Results come out on 25 March 2027. Early Admission (Spring and Fall Tracks) closed on 22 October 2026 with results on 7 January 2027. You cannot switch tracks once the US$80 fee is paid.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarship itself has no English score: it goes to everyone admitted. English test rules sit in KAIST's undergraduate admission guideline, which we couldn't retrieve, so check it before you apply. KAIST teaches in English and its graduate track asks for IELTS 6.5, so 6.5 overall is a sensible target. Any score you submit goes in with the application, and the application and documents are due by the same deadline.
