Stanford University
Knight-Hennessy Scholars (Stanford University)
Stanford's university-wide graduate scholarship. You apply to Knight-Hennessy and to a Stanford graduate programme (MA, MS, MBA, JD, MD, PhD and others) in the same autumn, and the scholarship funds whichever degree admits you. No quotas by country, discipline or programme.
Application round
The 2027 cohort application closed on 6 October 2026 at 13:00 Pacific time (03:00 on 7 October in Thailand). You also had to submit your Stanford programme application by the earlier of its KHS deadline or 1 December 2026.
Next round
The application for the 2028 cohort opens in June 2027 and should close in early October 2027, so have your IELTS result by September 2027.
The IELTS requirement
Knight-Hennessy has no minimum score of its own and follows your graduate programme's rules: if the programme needs an English test, you send the same scores to KHS by the later of the two deadlines. Every Stanford programme accepts TOEFL and most accept IELTS, where the minimum for most programmes is 7.0, so aim for 7.0 before the October deadline. Some departments only accept scores from the last 18 months.
