London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
LSE Graduate Support Scheme (GSS)
The Graduate Support Scheme is LSE's main source of funding for taught master's and diploma students, and it is open to Home and Overseas applicants alike, so Thai students qualify. Unlike most scholarships it's means-tested: awards of £5,000 to £20,000 are sized to the shortfall between your costs and the funding you already have. You apply through the Graduate Financial Support Application after applying for admission, and the same form puts you forward for LSE's other awards.
Application round
The 2026 round has closed. For 2027/28 entry, LSE expects the Graduate Financial Support Application to open in late November 2026, with the deadline to be confirmed. GSS decisions normally arrive within 24 hours through the Graduate Applicant Portal; other LSE awards are notified by the end of July 2027, and no news by 31 July 2027 means unsuccessful.
Next round
The 2027/28 funding form should open in late November 2026. Apply for admission first so you can reach the form, and check the LSE page for the closing date once it is published.
The IELTS requirement
GSS has no IELTS requirement of its own; it looks at your finances, not your English. Your LSE offer carries the English condition, and LSE's standard requirement for most master's programmes is IELTS 7.0 overall with at least 6.5 in each component, which is higher than many UK universities. You don't need the score to submit the funding form, but you'll need it to meet your offer, so plan for 7.0.

What it covers
- A grant of £5,000 to £20,000 depending on financial need, covering 100% of your calculated funding shortfall

- Flights, visa fees and living costs beyond the award are your own responsibility
Who can apply
- Applying for a taught master's or diploma at LSE for 2027/28; Home and Overseas applicants are both eligible
