Lund University
Lund University Global Scholarship
Lund's academic excellence award for fee-paying students from outside the EU/EEA. The university hands out about SEK 26 million a year; 110 scholarships went to students from over 40 countries in 2026. Mostly for master's programmes, with a few bachelor's programmes in exceptional cases.
Application round
The round for autumn 2026 closed on 16 February 2026. Only applicants who have submitted a complete programme application are invited to apply, through a separate scholarship portal, with a motivation letter of up to 600 words. You can apply for one Lund Global Scholarship per round.
Next round
The scholarship application opens in early February each year, after the national programme application deadline in mid-January, and closes about two weeks later. For autumn 2027, apply to Lund at universityadmissions.se by mid-January 2027 and watch for the scholarship portal in early February 2027.
The IELTS requirement
Lund sets no separate IELTS score for the scholarship; you need to meet the programme's English entry requirement. Most Swedish master's programmes ask for "English 6", which universityadmissions.se equates to IELTS Academic 6.5 with no section below 5.5, and some Lund programmes ask for the higher English 7. Your score has to be with your programme application by the document deadline in early February, before the scholarship application even opens.
