Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore)
NTU Research Scholarship
NTU's main scholarship for full-time research degrees, open to international students. It pays tuition and a monthly stipend for up to four years of a PhD or two years of a master's by research. There is no separate form: you tick the scholarship in your admission application.
Application round
For the August 2027 intake the graduate admission portal is open from 1 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 (S$50 application fee). Some schools close earlier: ADM, SoH, SSS and WKWSCI on 15 November 2026, LKCMedicine and RSIS on 31 December 2026. Successful scholars are told by email with their admission offer.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarship has no English score of its own. NTU asks applicants whose bachelor's degree wasn't taught in English for a 'good TOEFL/IELTS score' no older than two years at the time of application, without publishing a minimum. For a research degree at this level, 6.5 overall is a sensible target; check your school's page, as some set their own figure. Because the scholarship is requested inside the admission application, you need the score before the deadline.
