Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC)
Thai Government and King's Scholarships for M.6 Students (OCSC high-school round)
Each October OCSC runs one exam for several government scholarships aimed at M.6 students: the science-and-technology scholarships (17 units in 2569), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs scholarships (5 units) and the Bank of Thailand's Wiwatthanachai scholarship (2 awards). The King's Scholarship (ทุนเล่าเรียนหลวง), which has no work obligation, is run through the same exam. You study a bachelor's abroad, some units continuing to a master's, then work for the sponsoring agency.
Application round
The 2569 round opened on 10 October and closed on 30 October 2025 at scholar2.ocsc.go.th, with the 130-baht fee payable until 22:00 on 31 October. Written exams followed in December and the suitability assessment in early 2026.
Next round
OCSC opens this round in October each year, for about three weeks. The 2570 announcements were posted on scholar2.ocsc.go.th in October 2026; check there for the current dates and unit list.
The IELTS requirement
No IELTS or TOEFL is asked for at any stage. OCSC sets its own three-hour English paper, marks it first and only marks the other papers of candidates at or above the mean English score, so English is the gatekeeper. The science units add maths and science papers; the Foreign Ministry units add social studies and Thai. Once you win, you still need the IELTS score your university asks for, typically 6.0 for a bachelor's and higher at selective universities, so start preparing during the exam year.
