The Rotary Foundation
Rotary Peace Fellowship (Master's Degree Programme)
A 15- to 24-month master's for mid-career peace and development professionals, including a two- to three-month field study you design yourself. Rotary pays everything and assigns you to one of its Peace Centres: Duke/UNC (USA), International Christian University (Japan), Bradford (UK), Queensland (Australia) or Uppsala (Sweden). You apply to Rotary, not to a university, and only apply for admission once you are selected.
Application round
The application for the 2027-28 cohort is closed. Applications open online on rotary.org each February and must be submitted by 15 May; a recommendation from a Rotary club or district is optional but strongly encouraged and has to be entered before you submit. Selected candidates are told in November which Peace Centre they will attend, and then apply to that university separately.
Next round
The 2028-29 application opens online in February 2027, with the candidate deadline expected to be 15 May 2027. Have your IELTS result ready by April 2027.
The IELTS requirement
Rotary doesn't publish a band of its own, but master's applicants have to upload IELTS or TOEFL results with the application, so you need a valid score before the May deadline. The score that counts is the one your assigned university asks for when you apply for admission after selection, and it varies by university (Bradford, Uppsala, Queensland, ICU, Duke or UNC). Use 6.5 overall, the usual master's requirement, as a working target and check the centres you rank.
