Hungarian Government, run by Tempus Public Foundation
Stipendium Hungaricum (Hungarian Government Scholarship)
Hungary's main scholarship for students from partner countries, and Thailand is one of them for full-time degree programmes. You apply online to Tempus Public Foundation, and the Thai sending partner must nominate you for the application to count.
Application round
The 2026/27 round closed on 15 January 2026 at 14:00 Central European Time (20:00 in Thailand). Sending partners nominate by the end of February, universities run entrance exams from mid-March to May, and results come in late June.
Next round
The 2027/28 call hasn't been published yet. Tempus publishes it on the Stipendium Hungaricum site around November, and the deadline has been 15 January each year, so aim to have your IELTS result in hand by December 2026.
The IELTS requirement
The programme itself sets no IELTS score. Each host university sets the minimum for its programme, shown in the application system, and you must upload the certificate with your application by the January deadline, so the test has to be done before then. Requirements vary by programme; around 6.0 is typical for bachelor's and 6.5 for master's, and proof that your previous degree was taught in English can sometimes replace a test. Bachelor's and master's students also take two semesters of Hungarian language.
