Taiwan Ministry of Education, via the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand
Taiwan Scholarship (Ministry of Education) for Thai Students
The Taiwan Ministry of Education's degree scholarship, run for Thai students by the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Bangkok. 24 awards were offered in 2026. You apply to the office and to at least two Taiwanese universities in the same spring.
Application round
The 2026 round took applications from 1 February to 31 March 2026, by post or in person at the Education Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, with interviews in May and university admission letters due by 30 June.
Next round
The 2027 directions should be posted on the office's website around January 2027, with applications again expected from 1 February to 31 March 2027. Aim to have your IELTS 6.0 by February 2027.
The IELTS requirement
For a programme taught in English the Thai directions ask for IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 79 or TOEIC 750, filed with your scholarship documents by the 31 March deadline, so you need the result in hand by then. The score is the office's minimum; universities can ask for more, so check your programme as well. If your programme is taught in Chinese you need TOCFL Level 3 instead, and some programmes want both.
