Türkiye Scholarships (Türkiye Bursları)
A government scholarship that places you at a Turkish university and pays for everything from tuition to a flight home. Most programmes are taught in Turkish, with a year of Turkish language included; English-taught options exist at some universities.
Application round
The 2026 round took applications from 10 January to 20 February 2026 for all levels and countries in one window, with interviews from April to June and results in early August.
Next round
The 2027 round hasn't been announced yet. The official application calendar lists 10 January to 20 February as the yearly window, so expect applications to open in January 2027; you don't need a test score to apply.
The IELTS requirement
You don't need an IELTS score to apply: selection is on academic record, documents and an interview. If you're placed on an English-taught programme, the university's own English requirement applies, so budget for around IELTS 6.5 for a master's. The higher-paying Merit Scholarship does ask for a score: IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT 80) for undergraduates and IELTS 7.0 (TOEFL iBT 90) for master's and PhD. Everyone else learns Turkish in the first year.

What it covers
- Tuition fees and university placement
- A monthly stipend of 6,500 TL (bachelor's), 9,500 TL (master's) or 13,000 TL (PhD); Merit Scholarship holders get double
- Accommodation and health insurance
- A flight ticket at the start of your studies and another when you graduate
- A one-year Turkish language course
Who can apply
- Open to applicants of all nationalities except Turkish citizens and people who have given up Turkish citizenship; Thai citizens can apply
- Bachelor's: under 21, with at least 70% in secondary school (90% for medicine, dentistry and pharmacy)
- Master's: under 30, with at least 75% in your previous degree
- PhD: under 35, with at least 75% in your previous degree
- Not currently enrolled at a Turkish university at the level you apply for
- Final-year students who will graduate before enrolment can apply
