University of Macau (UM)
University of Macau International Student Scholarship
UM's scholarship for outstanding students holding a foreign passport, awarded competitively across the whole international applicant pool. Completing the online admission application is the scholarship application, and awards are renewed each year for the normal length of the degree.
Application round
Master's applications for 2027/28 are in two batches: 3 August to 3 December 2026, then 4 December 2026 to 30 April 2027, at grs.um.edu.mo. Earlier batches are considered first. The bachelor's application period for international students is published separately by the Registry (reg.um.edu.mo) and we couldn't retrieve it; check it there.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarship sets no English score of its own, but UM admission does. For master's programmes, applicants whose bachelor's wasn't taught in English need IELTS 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT 80, valid (within two years) when they apply. Bachelor's programmes have their own English requirement, so check the Registry's international admission page. Because the admission application doubles as the scholarship application, have your score before the batch you aim for closes.
