UQ International Excellence Scholarship
UQ's merit award for international students starting a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programme in 2027, in any study area. There is nothing extra to apply for: when you apply to UQ you're ranked against the other offer holders for your commencement semester, and the 25% reduction is applied to each semester's fees for the duration of the programme.
Application round
No separate application: you are assessed when you apply for your UQ programme. Successful applicants are told with their unconditional offer, or once conditional offer requirements are met, and are given an acceptance deadline at that point.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarship has no IELTS score of its own; you have to meet UQ's English requirement for your programme, which for most programmes is IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 (some ask for 7.0). You're notified with your unconditional offer, or once your offer conditions are met, so the sooner your IELTS is in, the sooner the scholarship can be confirmed.

What it covers
- A 25% reduction in tuition fees each semester, for the duration of your programme
- Applied before each semester's tuition due date
- Living costs, flights and OSHC are not included
Who can apply
- International student (any country) applying to study full-time at UQ, commencing in 2027, in an eligible programme
- Undergraduate or postgraduate coursework in any study area; eligible programmes are listed in the 2027 terms and conditions
- Meet all conditions of your offer, including the entry rank and English language requirement
- Achieve a competitive score among offer holders for the same commencement semester
- Not holding another UQ scholarship or fee reduction (except the UQ English Language Scholarship) or a full scholarship from elsewhere
