University of Warwick (Doctoral College)
Warwick Postgraduate Research Scholarships (Chancellor's and other streams)
Warwick's annual PhD funding competition, which replaced the old Chancellor's International Scholarship. One scholarship application puts you in the running for every stream you are eligible for: Faculty Chancellors (up to 30 awards), Interdisciplinary Chancellors (up to 12) and AHRC Doctoral (up to 3) are all open to any nationality. You also need a separate course application, submitted three days earlier.
Application round
The 2027 competition opened on 5 October 2026. Course applications close on 7 December 2026 and scholarship applications on 10 December 2026, both at 16:59 GMT (23:59 in Thailand); late submissions are not accepted. Wait at least 48 hours after your course application for your applicant ID before you can register on the scholarships portal. Shortlisting notices go out on 25 January 2027 and offers on 5 March 2027.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarship sets no English score; your research course does. Warwick courses are placed in bands, and the common one, Band A, is IELTS 6.5 overall with no component below 6.0; some departments use Band B (7.0 overall) or higher. IELTS Academic, UKVI and Online are all accepted. You don't need the score to apply for the scholarship, but the department can make it a condition of your offer, and the test must be taken within two years and one month of your start date.
