Wesleyan University (Freeman Foundation)
Freeman Asian Scholars Program (Wesleyan University)
One of the few full-ride bachelor's scholarships in the US aimed at Southeast and East Asian students. Around 11 incoming students a year from the eleven eligible countries, Thailand among them, get the whole cost of a Wesleyan degree paid. You apply for admission and need-based aid as normal and are considered automatically; there is no Freeman form.
Application round
There is no separate Freeman application. Apply to Wesleyan through the Regular Decision round with the standard international materials (Common App, school records, recommendations and the financial aid forms such as the CSS Profile). International applicants who need aid can't apply Early Decision. Finalists may have an informal video interview with Freeman alumni, and awards are announced with Regular Decision results in the spring.
The IELTS requirement
The programme sets no IELTS score; Wesleyan's requirements for international applicants apply and any test result goes in with your admission application, so sit the test before the deadline. Wesleyan's older Freeman page treated IELTS 7.0 (Academic reading and writing) or TOEFL iBT 100 as adequate, and the current page lists English ability among the selection criteria, so aim for 7.0. SAT/ACT is optional but can also serve as evidence of English.
