Yenching Academy, Peking University
Yenching Academy of Peking University (Yenching Scholars)
Peking University's interdisciplinary master's in China Studies, with a full fellowship for every scholar admitted. The international round for the 2027 cohort runs from September to November, with interviews in winter and decisions around April.
Application round
The international round for the 2027 cohort opened on 1 September 2026 and closes on 30 November 2026 at 09:00 Beijing time (08:00 in Thailand). Apply at apply.yca.pku.edu.cn.
The IELTS requirement
The Academy asks for IELTS Academic 7.0 overall or TOEFL iBT 100 (Cambridge C1 Advanced 185 also works), and the score must reach them directly from the test centre, so book your test well before the 30 November deadline. Only tests taken after 1 September 2025 count, and IELTS Online, IELTS One Skill Retake and TOEFL Home Edition are not accepted. You are exempt if English is your first language or your bachelor's was taught in English.
