York University
York University International Entrance Scholarships (Toronto)
York University in Toronto gives every international applicant with a final admission average of 75% or higher an entrance scholarship automatically, scaled by grades and renewable for four years. Top students can also apply for the President's International Scholarship of Excellence, worth C$45,000 a year for four years, which replaces the automatic award if you win it.
Application round
For Fall 2027 entry, the automatic scholarships need no separate application: apply for admission and the award is assessed from your final average. The President's International Scholarship of Excellence has a student application deadline of 27 January 2027 and a nominee submission deadline of 4 February 2027. Direct-entry international students starting in Fall 2027 also get a four-year residence guarantee.
The IELTS requirement
The scholarships set no English score of their own; you just need to meet York's English requirement for admission, and the test result goes in with your application. English-taught bachelor's degrees at Canadian universities commonly ask for around IELTS 6.5, so check the requirement for your programme and plan to have the result before you apply.
